Farewell to Alleluia

McLean, Helen. Christ in Glory, from Art in the Christian Tradition.

Each year, at the end of the service on Transfiguration Sunday, Immanuel’s children join Pastor Cindy to say, “Farewell to Alleluia.” The children take the Alleluia banner and hide it somewhere in the church. When Easter comes, the excitement to find the hidden banner, sing and say, “ALLELUIA!” for the first time in five weeks is pure joy! This year the practice of bidding “Farewell to Alleluia” will have to be virtual. Thanks to Chillon Leach, you can color and hide an “Alleluia” in your home! Look for a link to this coloring sheet in the News and Notes emails that will come on Saturday, February 6 and 13. Print a copy and have it ready for worship on February 14.
