Our Muslim Neighbors: From Fear to Friendship

Immanuel is hosting a series of 3 conversations about Islam on Monday evenings in November :

  • Monday, Nov. 13 – Stereotypes & Prejudices –  What questions do you have?
  • Monday, Nov. 20 – What Islam is, and what it is not.  History and Politics
  • Monday, Nov. 27 – Christian and Muslim relations – What can we do?

All presentations/conversations will be at the church in the west lounge, from 7-8 pm.  For those who wish additional conversation or questions opportunity will be available from 8-8:30. The public is welcome.

After the three evenings, if there is interest in more or deeper conversation, including conversation with local muslim leaders, it will be scheduled.

We will be led by Rev. Sam Wolff, an ordained minister in the ELCA with an MDiv from Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, CA, and an MTH in Islamic Studies from Luther Seminary.  He has been a parish pastor in Los Angeles, CA and a missionary in East Africa (Kenya & Tanzania). He lectured at Saint Marks Anglican Seminary, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and was pastor of the International Congregation of Frankfurt, Germany.  Pastor Wolff has worked in Christian/ Muslim relations in East Africa, Europe and the US since 1985, including continuing work with the Islamic Society of Woodbury & the East Metro and Memorial Lutheran Church, Afton MN.
