Weekly News and Notes

News and Notes for the week of March 29, 2020

Take the opportunity to begin and end your day in prayer,
remaining attentive to God’s gifts in your life.

O God, I know that you are the Lord,
for you gave me my life,
and caused me to rise this day.
Put your Spirit within me,
and let my words and actions
help others to know
that you are my Lord and my God. Amen.

My soul waits for you, O Lord,
more than those who watch for morning.
Help me to sleep this night in peace,
trusting that you will awaken me;
through Jesus Christ my Savior. Amen.

Immanuel’s Music and Arts Camp
Registrations are coming in for our 6th Music and Arts Camp! Please register your children soon so they get the electives of their choice.  Invite friends to visit ilcsp.org/imac for information and to register. Our camp dates are August 10-14, 2020. This day camp is for children who have completed kindergarten through the eighth grade. We have scholarship money available for anyone. All requests are confidential. Please contact Chris Cherwien at ccherwien@ilcsp.org.

Elders Help and Support
Many of our elders are at home during the outbreak.  The Care Team, staff and Church Council will continue to be in touch with our elders by phone or email.  There are volunteers who have offered to run errands or shop for groceries, so they don’t have to go out. If you know of someone who needs extra help, let Pastor Cindy know.

How to Give
Immanuel is still doing ministry among our members and in the community.  But we are not receiving Sunday offerings.  Please find a way to continue your giving to God’s work through Immanuel.  You can make your regular offerings online HERE, and even set up regular weekly gifts during this season.  You can download the Give Plus app at the App Store or Google Play.   You can mail your offering to the church.  We are grateful for your generous gifts.

Use of the Building
The Church Council has agreed that we will follow the CDC guidelines that no groups over 10 people may meet at the church until further notice. Deanna will be at the church daily to answer phones, receive the mail, and keep us running. Other staff members will be working mainly from home and cell phone.

Church Directory
The church directory can be accessed by computer at instantchurchdirectory.com or from the Instant Church Directory app (available at the App Store or Google Play).  If your email is in the directory, you can access the directory.  If you need help with it, contact Kari Moeller, Kathy Raiter, Deanna Hesse or Pastor Cindy.  If you need a printed copy, contact the church office.

Safe House
Safe House, the teen homeless shelter near Immanuel, is open 24/7 during the outbreak and they need meals.  At this time they prefer groceries that the staff can prepare. They are looking for:

  • Milk
  • Cereal
  • Fruit
  • Veggies
  • Snacks
  • Food that your teenager would want to eat
  • Laundry detergent
  • Hand soap
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Bleach based products

You can drop off groceries at the house without going in, but contact Rosie Blanc for the address and to let them know you are coming (Rosie.Blanc@lssmn.org)

It’s Still Minnesota Food Share Month
A financial donation is the most effective way to help the Keystone food shelf right now – they can use it to buy food in bulk. Go HERE to make a donation, then be sure to let us know – Immanuel’s foundation is still matching gifts to Keystone during March up to $2000.

Project Home
During the Outbreak, Project Home Shelter is moving from churches to the Day Center site where families will shelter in place. That will require hiring staff instead of using volunteers. Go HERE to make a donation to Project Home.
