Weekly News and Notes

News and Notes July 1st, 2018

Take the opportunity to begin and end your day in prayer, remaining attentive to God’s gifts in your life.

Good morning, God. Before this day takes hold of me and I am spread too thin by care, I come to you to sit quietly, for you are good to those who wait for you, to the soul that seeks your peace. Fill me with your life-giving presence; may all that I do this day be done with calm attention, for you are my strength and peace. Amen.

Thank you for helping me to become a more generous and attentive person this day. As I let go of all the things done and left undone this day, make me mindful that it is your strength and steadfast loving presence that keeps my faith whole and fills me with a quiet confidence. Amen

Download it or print it and take church with you wherever you go!

The Open Eye Theatre returns with another great puppet production, “Little Grandpa’s Big Surprise.”  Little Grandpa is turning 100 years old, and his granddaughter BB is planning the best, biggest, most bodacious, and SECRET — ssshhh — Surprise birthday party ever. But when cake-baking chaos ensues, BB has to call on her friends and neighbors for help. Can they bring all the ingredients together in time?
This brand new Driveway Tour show is complete with flying cakes, catchy tunes, and Henry the Helpful Rooster! LITTLE GRANDPA’S BIG SURPRISE is sure to delight and entertain all ages.

Builders are needed!
Immanuel is a member of Interfaith Builders, a group of nine local congregations, that spend two weeks annually working on a Habitat for Humanity home construction project. Adults and young people age 16 and up (with an adult) are needed to work for one day or more days. There are jobs available for every skill level, even the opportunity to learn a new construction skill.

This year the home is at 864 Margaret Street in St. Paul. The work dates are July 16 – 20 and July 23 – 27 from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm. Lunch, water and snacks are provided. To learn how to sign up, contact Sandi Butler 651-738-2994 or Sue Klevan 651-319-2234.

Each year we collect new backpacks, calculators, and other school essentials to benefit school children from low-income and homeless families in the East Metro.  A list of needed supplies can be found in the newsletter and in the Gathering space beginning July 22.  Supplies will be collected through August 19.
