Weekly News and Notes

News and Notes October 13, 2019

Take the opportunity to begin and end your day in prayer,
remaining attentive to God’s gifts in your life.

Glorious God, I praise you.
I praise you for who you are –
loving, merciful, powerful, and just.
I praise you for the ways you act in creation –
creating beauty, bringing freedom, making peace, offering healing.
Thank you for opportunities I will have today
to glorify you in my words and actions.
Thank you for this very day in which I am able to enjoy you
by participating in your activity in the world.
I pray that the enmity between people and nations
may give way to true communion.
In the name of Christ, the great Reconciler, I pray. Amen.

Loving God, I end this day as I began it – in praise of you.
Thank you for including me in your great circle of love and care.
Thank you for being with us always.
Thank you, too, for calling me to love others
and to treat everyone as my neighbor.
Help me to notice those whose cries for mercy
so often go unheard or unanswered,
for I am joined to them by being joined to you.
I pray in awe of the life you have given me
through faith in Jesus Christ. Amen.

October marks the beginning of our annual drive to support the ongoing ministry of Immanuel. This year you are once again invited to a Stewardship Social at an Immanuel member’s home to learn about what is happening at Immanuel, dream a bit about the future, and get to know some people you only see on a Sunday morning.  Socials will last one hour, and various light refreshments will be served.  Please plan to join other Immanuel members and friends at a social this year.  You can sign up for a social at the Welcome desk in the Gathering Space, online at ilcsp.org/registration, or by contacting the Church Administrator, Deanna Hesse, at 651-699-5560 or by e-mail at dhesse@ilcsp.org.
