Pastor Cindy has served at Immanuel since 2011. She loves the intergenerational culture of Immanuel, where all ages and stages of faith are valued. She is energized by the way members work to live out their faith in the city through caring, using their gifts and talents and working for change.
Pastor Cindy has previously served congregations in Richmond, VA, Dallas, TX, and West St. Paul, MN. She has a BS from The College of William and Mary in Virginia, and an MDiv from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. She and her husband Brian are the parents of two grown children.
Sam earned his MDiv at Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley CA. He holds an MTH in Islamic Studies from Luther Seminary, Saint Paul MN. He served as a Parish Pastor in Los Angeles CA and has served as a missionary in East Africa, Kenya and Tanzania.
Sam has served in Frankfurt, Germany as a Pastor for an International Congregation and in Ministry in Christian/Muslim Relations in East Africa. Europe and the U.S.
Back in Minnesota he has served in Interim Ministry at Easter Lutheran, Eagan MN, Saint Paul Reformation, Saint Paul MN, and Memorial Lutheran, Afton MN.
Pastor Sam will be with us during Pastor Cindy’s Sabbatical, May 22-August 22.
Chris Cherwien directs the adult, youth, and children’s vocal and Handbell choirs at Immanuel. She has served congregations in Minneapolis, Indianapolis and Philadelphia throughout her music ministry. Chris has performed as soloist and in ensembles throughout her carreer and is currently the alto section leader for the National Lutheran Choir. Chris has a Bachelor of Arts degree in vocal performance from Augsburg College.
Emily King oversees Sunday school and vacation Bible school and assists in church communications. She spent 16 years doing journalism, writing and editing before embarking on a new journey. Emily has a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics from Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA.
Julie Lindorff likes hearing Immanuel sing from the organ bench! Julie grew up in Rock Island, Illinois surrounded by Augustana Synod Swedish Lutherans. She is a graduate of Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and holds a masters degree in Theology & Music from Luther Seminary and St.Olaf College. Julie has had the privilege of serving as organist of two remarkable churches, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Minneapolis and Pilgrim Lutheran Church in St. Paul. She is always on the lookout for a new hymn, a new hiking trail on the North Shore.
