Free childcare during school closures

We know how difficult it can be to find safe, reliable childcare for scheduled 1-day school closures like conference prep days. It’s even harder when the closure is unexpected and with no end date. We are here to support families during these times.

We accept students in pre-K (age 4-5) through grade 8* who attend St. Paul Public Schools. Participation is by pre-registration only, and space is limited. 

*Older middle-schoolers and high-schoolers may attend as volunteers.

Scheduled days off

Children are welcome to join us any time between 7:30am and 4:30pm on scheduled days.

In the 2024-25 school year, we will be open:

• Oct. 3 & 25 
• Nov. 8
• Jan. 20 & 27
• Feb. 17
• March 7 & 28
• April 18

Student Spot will not open for MEA, Thanksgiving, winter, and spring breaks.

Student Spot is a partnership of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Macalester College to provide coverage on these days.
